Rooftop decks and amenities in Seattle skyscrapers are usually reserved for residents and guests, but one hotel project wants its top floor to be open to the public.

According to documents filed with the city of Seattle, a 50th floor lobby and other public amenities are part of the plan for Stanford Hotels Corp.'s hotel and residential tower at 1903 Fifth Ave.

According to the latest plans, the building will have 229 residential units and approximately 200 hotel rooms. Previous iterations of the project called for 90 apartments on the middle levels and 133 condos on the top levels of the building.

The latest documents don't say if the units will be apartments or condos.

Stanford representatives did not return a phone call requesting comment.

MG2 is designing the tower.

An early design guidance meeting is set for 5.30 p.m. tonight at City Hall, 600 Fifth Ave.

Stanford's preferred design would have 3,000 square feet of retail space including room for a sidewalk cafe. There will be approximately 190 parking spaces above and below ground, and plans for call for some artist lofts in the building.
