SEATTLE — Seattle's Landmarks Preservation Board voted 7 to 1 to nominate the exterior of the Firestone Auto Supply & Service Store at 400 Westlake Ave. N. as a city landmark.
The board will consider whether to designate the 1929 two-story terra cotta-clad building as a landmark at 3:30 p.m. June 1 in room L2-80 of City Hall.
Martin Selig Real Estate wants to build office and retail there, while maintaining much of the facade.
The board also voted 7 to 2 to designate as a city landmark the exterior and site of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Garfield Exchange at 1529 Fourth Ave. W.
Seattle Public Library is considering selling the 1922 building.
The vote totals were different for the items as one member had to leave before the Firestone vote.
