EVERETT (AP) — Boeing opened its new 777X Composite Wing Center in Everet Friday.
The facility will manufacture composite wings for the 777X, the company's newest commercial jetliner.
The new $1 billion, 1 million square foot center is close to the widebody plant where the 777X will be assembled because the wings are the largest Boeing has ever built — 114 feet long and 23 feet wide.
The company says it has received 320 orders for the new plane. Production is scheduled to begin in 2017.
