KENT — Dick's Drive-In announced last year that it would open a seventh location in Kent. Now it has acquired almost nine acres for the planned restaurant on property just south of Domino's and the Lowe's at 24050 Pacific Hwy. S.
King County recorded the $3 million sale last week. The seller was Pacific Service Co., which acquired a larger property decades ago and has been gradually subdividing and selling it.
Brokers were not announced.
Run by the Spady family, Dick's was founded in 1954. It conducted an online poll last year to help gauge interest among its patrons. Results were announced in September.
The property is near Highline College in the West Hill neighborhood, between Pacific Highway and Interstate 5. About 1.3 acres is an unbuildable detention pond.
Last month, The Auburn Reporter quoted Kent Mayor Dana Ralph as saying the restaurant would break ground in April and could open by October.
