Two years ago, few noted the $4.8 million sale of the historic Lowman & Hanford Building, at 616 First Ave., facing Pioneer Square. The buyer, an LLC associated with Manchester Capital Management, didn't announce any plans at that time.
Now a team led by Freiheit & Ho Architects is giving the 1892 building a full makeover, with a seismic upgrade, new HVAC system, new elevator and other improvements. Permits have been issued, and work is underway.
