The U.S. General Services Administration named Chaun Benjamin regional commissioner of the Public Buildings Service for the Northwest/Arctic Region. The service provides workspace for federal agencies. Benjamin will manage a portfolio of more than 16 million square feet in 577 owned and leased buildings in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. He has been acting regional commissioner since May 2013 and has been with GSA since 2003. Before that he served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force handling acquisitions.
Seattle King County Realtors is seeking nominations for the 77th annual First Citizen award, which celebrates leadership, volunteerism and public service. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices added Prudential Almon Realty of Yakima to its brokerage network. The name will change Nov. 20 to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Central Washington Real Estate. The office will also add a commercial division, which clients have requested for several years, according to broker Chris Pauling. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices is a subsidiary of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. Since it was founded in September 2013, the network has added 34,000 agents and 1,035 offices in 47 states.
Bob Spiro and Chris Pohlad of NorthMarq Capital's Seattle office arranged $52.71 million in refinancing for two apartment complexes in Seattle and Puyallup. NorthMarq got $20.65 million for Boxcar apartments, a 145-unit property in South Lake Union, and $32.06 million for Riverside Park in Puyallup. AmeriSphere Multifamily Finance provided the loans.
