Description
The Gray Army Airfield Aviation Support project provides additional facilities for servicing aircraft, including improved training and support facilities.

A 57,584-square-foot maintenance hangar for aviation support is the largest component of the project. The hangar facility includes offices, multiple hangar bays, shops, tool and part storage, locker rooms and building support functions.

The aviation support facility features an overhead crane system and operable partitions. The facility is composed of steel structure frame and stairs; perimeter load bearing walls with masonry veneer; and concrete slab-on-grade main flooring.

The roof structure uses steel joists and truss roof framing, metal deck and an insulated standing seam metal roof.

The 23,025-square-foot training building will consist of office and administration space, assembly hall with kitchen, classrooms, library, learning center, COMSEC training and storage, break room and an arms vault.

Several optional bid items were awarded with this contract for pre-engineered metal buildings. These buildings are located offsite and include a 1,700-square-foot unheated storage building, covered storage building with 2,712 square feet, and a building for the U.S. Army Reserve Center Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS).

The OMS building is 3,800 square feet, constructed with load-bearing concrete masonry walls, masonry veneer and a sloped insulated standing seam metal roof.
