Mary Gates Hall

Mary Gates Hall

Mary Gates Hall

Project description: Restoration and addition to the 1928-vintage Physics Hall at the University of Washington for the new center for undergraduate education. The 185,000-square-foot building will feature the collegiate gothic style of early campus buildings, with detailed brick and cast stone work matching the original patterns and materials of Physics Hall. It will include instructional computing facilities and 40 interactive classrooms, academic services and advising, career services, interdisciplinary programs and the dean's office of undergraduate education. Interior spaces will be provided for student-faculty interaction, including a sky lit central commons area and smaller nooks for meetings or studying.

Special note: Mary Gates Hall was originally a GC/CM job, but was later switched to a traditional bid by the University of Washington. Because of this, the project was given a special place on the Top 20 list.
