Location: Boise, Idaho

Project team: Interior Systems Inc., wall and ceiling contractor; FFKR Architects, architect; Layton Construction, general contractor; Acoustical Supply, supplier; Dietrich Metal Framing and USG Building Systems, manufacturers

This project involved building a four-story press box and luxury suite addition on top of the existing Boise State University Bronco Stadium.

At the ground level, the project added two stories for new ticket offices, restrooms and concession stands. Large steel columns support the press box/sky suite structure nearly 100 feet above the lower levels.

Interior Systems Inc. was in charge of light-gauge metal framing, gypsum board, glass-reinforced gypsum, acoustical ceilings, fireproofing, metal soffit panels, insulation and fiberglass-reinforced plastic panels.

A complete scaffold floor was built to access the work under the elevated structure. Exterior framing required the use of some of the largest boom lifts available, some reaching 140 feet.

Judge’s comment: “Like constructing an office building on stilts, this was not your typical job site to execute the work but one that took a great deal of ingenuity, skilled people and special equipment to perform the exterior and interior scopes of work. The aggressive schedule and safety were major concerns.”
