Concrete reaches new pinnacle in Redmond

Alisa Chimenti of Seattle recently challenged a sharp "peak" at the climbing rock in Marymoor Park near Redmond.

The $450,000 project was finished last June by general contractor Caicos Corp. and subcontractor Specialty Concrete. After it was cast in place, the project was sandblasted to clean it up and give it a uniform texture.

The climbing facility features several peaks, including the 46-foot spire Chimenti ascended and a main structure which presents opportunities for overhead climbing.

D.R. Climbing Walls Ltd. of England designed the project and built the form liners. Landscape architect Jonge/Gerrard/McNeal served as the project consultant.
