Special Applications - Environmental Merit
Project:
When it came time to rehabilitate North Street, the city of Olympia wanted to add 1,500 feet of new sidewalks while mitigating for the increase in stormwater runoff. Rather than spend $110,000 on a pond for stormwater detention and treatment, the city decided to install a porous concrete sidewalk. The increased cost of the porous sidewalk was about $10,000 - saving $100,000 by not building a detention pond.
