CAST-IN-PLACE

A total of seven entries were received in this category. Entries included: One Pacific Tower, the Physical Education Building at North Seattle Community College, Microsoft's Redmond West Campus, Bellevue Pacific Tower, the Key Arena, Washington State Historical Museum and Spokane Veteran's Memorial Arena.

Predictably, Key Arena took top honors in this category as it went on to win the Grand Award. First runner-up was One Pacific Tower, followed by the Washington State Historical Museum.

One Pacific Tower is a luxury condominium tower in Seattle built with a freeform perimeter to allow for full-height glass without the obstruction of beams. The number of columns were minimized to enhance layout and flexibility of unit design.

The building used a cast-in-place structural frame with post-tensioned flat plates combined with an internal seismic resisting system. All seismic frames were kept to the interior of the building, allowing for the creation of floor-to-ceiling glass at the perimeter.
