The ABC of Western Washington chose seven special projects out of a field of 23 for its 2002 Excellence in Construction Awards. The winners were recognized at a March 27 awards banquet in Seattle.
“Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington’s Excellence in Construction Awards demonstrate the exemplary quality and cost-effectiveness of construction when the choice of contractors and subcontractors is based on merit — price, ability and performance,” said Nick Cooper, current president of ABC and a senior project manager with Walsh Construction in Seattle. The awards credit all members of the teams responsible for winning projects, from contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, to owners and architects. Judges for this year’s contest included: Phil Brown, publisher of the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce; David Glassman, principal of Mulvanny G2; Jeff Jeffers, principal of Collins Woerman; John E. Schaufelberger, Ph.D., P.E. and graduate program coordinator of the Department of Construction Management, University of Washington College of Architecture & Urban Planning; and Mark Woerman, principal of Collins Woerman. ABC of Western Washington represents over 390 open and union shop companies, professional service firms and suppliers. |
