The Loews Theatres project is the main anchor and focal point to the newly renovated Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood. It is a raised structural steel building decorated with relief stucco patterns.

S.D. Deacon Corp. of Washington fast-tracked the 16-screen theater, beginning with the placement of a massive underground foundation with 715 pilings and 100 pile caps.

The construction team decided to place a 230-stall parking garage below the theater to alleviate the site’s lack of space. Access to the theaters is gained by escalators, elevators and grand staircases, which lead from the main entry platform through a 60-foot archway and skywall into the main lobby.

Theater mezzanines needed to be created first, so that the projectors could be brought in. Crews then built the stadium risers and poured concrete. After that, theater screens, sound systems, flooring finishes and seating were installed.

The project had one light-duty accident and no time lost incidents.
