Hough Beck & Baird provides landscape architecture, urban design and planning services. Current projects include Sea-Tac International Airport for the Port of Seattle; Longfellow Creek restoration for the city of Seattle; phase three of International Boulevard for the city of SeaTac; and the Link Light Rail for Sound Transit.
Hough Beck & Baird began the year with a staff of 11 landscape architects and planners, and is expected to grow to twelve or thirteen people by the end of this year. Gross fee revenues for 1998 showed an increase of approximately 10 percent over 1997 revenues. According to Hough-Beck, This year, we will continue to highlight our planning and design services while expanding into new areas of waterfront, community and streetscape design.
HB&B expects to reach beyond the boundaries of traditional landscape architectural services in the coming year in order meet the demands of clients.
This means creatively utilizing technology in computer graphics and photo imagery, and lots of coffee, says Hough-Beck.
Last year HB&B completed the construction phase for the Port of Seattle's public access project on Elliot Bay waterfront at Terminal 5. This project took over three years to design and construct, and includes pedestrian and bicycle access, public art and view points to the harbor and downtown. Also, last year HB&B worked on design and mitigation requirements for The Park At Bothell Landing. This project includes a new outdoor amphitheater located on the banks of the Sammamish River in Bothell
This year, the firm looks forward to continued work at Sea-Tac International Airport and the completion of the Longfellow Creek Restoration project. HB&B will also be involved with the landscape enhancement of International Boulevard, as well as landscape planning for a portion of the Sound Transit link Light Rail project.
