SEATTLE — Celebrate mom and International Migratory Bird Day on Saturday, May 9, on a guided tour to learn about wild birds that visit or live at Woodland Park Zoo.
Zookeepers and expert staff will give birding tips on the two-hour walk. A light breakfast of pastries and coffee will be served, but it's BYO binoculars.
The event is from 6:45-9:30 a.m. and costs $20 for adult non-zoo members and $10 for adult zoo members. Children 12 and under are free.
Reserve a space in the Early Morning Bird Walk by emailing Eric.Kowalczyk@zoo.org. Space is limited to the first 50 RSVPs.
Migratory Bird Day highlights the migration of nearly 350 species between North America and South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The zoo says in a press release that research shows many migratory bird populations are in decline, facing threats during migration and in their habitats.
More information is at www.zoo.org.
