SEATTLE — Curious about unique eating experiences? Then check out the “chromatic dinners” that will be offered here in September as part of the 2018 Seattle Design Festival.
The dinners are three-hour, multi-sensory experiences that combine food, art and science. Five courses are served, each with a different color, taste, smell, texture and sound. Press materials say the idea dates back to Roman times, and was resurrected early in the 20th century by the Futurist Movement.
The dinners are designed by a Dutch team: artist/stage director Martin Butler and vegan chef Alexander Gershberg, in partnership with Het Nieuwe Instituut and Mediamatic.
Dinners will be offered from 7 to 10 p.m. on these dates and locations: Sept. 9 at Mutuus Studio, 802 Sixth Ave. S., Suite 1; and Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 at Galvanize Rooftop, 111 S. Jackson St.
Tickets cost $100 and are available at https://tinyurl.com/y9x2c6jr/.
