Hemmings

In Eugene, Oregon, Summit Bank promoted Chris Hemmings to chief operating officer. Hemmings has been with the bank since 2008 and has served in various capacities, most recently as senior vice president and chief administrative officer, and before that as controller. He currently is chair of the bank's operations committee, which evaluates and guides efforts that support strategic initiatives, and is chair of the bank's compliance committee. Summit has offices in Eugene/Springfield, Central Oregon and the Portland area.

CLIPr

In Seattle, video analysis and management company CLIPr appointed Diego Piacentini to its advisory board. Piacentini has been a technology business leader for over 30 years. He is currently a senior advisor at KKR and a non-executive member of the Economist Group's board. Prior to this, he was senior vice president of international consumer business at Amazon for over 16 years, and the general manager of Apple EMEA during its transformative years. CLIPr uses AI and machine learning to index video content to help people save time and reduce fatigue when viewing videos.

Floor & Decor

Floor & Decor, a specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring, will open a store next week in Tacoma at 7601 S. Hosmer St. The 78,000-square-foot warehouse store and design center will be the Atlanta-based company's third store in the Seattle market. It will be managed by Makinzie Saxey, whose title is chief executive merchant. The grand opening will be held Oct. 21 and a $5,000 floor makeover sweepstakes will run through Nov. 20. Mister Car Wash opened at 1035 N. Stratford Road in Moses Lake, its ninth location in the Tri-Cities area. It is open 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. all days except Sunday, when it's open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The company is headquartered in Tucson, Arizona.

Scarfi

Seattle-based Vouched, a developer of AI-powered real-time identity verification, named Marita Scarfi as CFO and chief business operations officer, and Ryan Patterson as vice president of sales. Scarfi has two decades of global finance and operations experience, from early-stage companies to mature organizations. Prior to joining Vouched, she spent five years as CFO at emerging technology companies MeasureOne and PebblePost. Patterson has 15 years of sales and customer success experience at various high-growth Silicon Valley startups ranging from automotive finance to banking to health care. He previously was director of business development at Australian computer vision startup TrademarkVision.

Tacoma Housing Authority

The Tacoma Housing Authority board selected April Black as the organization's executive director. Black has worked at THA for 12 years, serving as deputy executive director for the past six years and interim executive director for the past few months. She is the first woman to lead THA in its 81-year-history. She replaces Michael Mirra, who retired several months ago.

Tacoma Venues & Events

Tacoma Venues & Events selected ASM Global as its management partner for the Pantages Theater (and adjoining Jones Building), the Rialto Theater and the Theatre on the Square. The 10-year partnership agreement includes responsibility for daily operations, maintenance and preservation, financial accountability, community sustainability, and active and diverse programming. All three theaters are owned by the city of Tacoma. ASM is a leading producer of entertainment experiences, venue management and event strategy, serving over 300 venues worldwide.

Marten Law added Ana Nina to its Seattle office and Lawson Fite to its Portland office. The firm also announced that it is expanding on the East Coast, with the addition of James Pollack in Boston and Jack Lyman in Washington, D.C. Nina is an associate and holds a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law. She worked for many years as an environmental lawyer in Brazil, and taught law in the U.S. and Brazil. At Marten, she counsels clients in business transactions and regulatory enforcement matters. Fite is a partner and co-chairs the firm's natural resources practice. He has over 15 years of experience working in private practice and for several years was chief counsel of a timber trade association. He earned his J.D. at Harvard Law School.

Villa Academy

In Seattle, Villa Academy selected Liz Willis as its new head of school. In addition to over 20 years of experience in education, Willis has a bachelor's degree in biology and history from Loyola Marymount University and master's and doctorate degrees in American history from the University of Southern California. She currently is associate head of school and interim upper school director at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, Pennsylvania. Willis will succeed Julie Thenell Grasseschi, interim head of school, on July 1, 2022. Founded in 1903 by St. Frances Cabrini, Villa Academy has a full-time teaching and faculty staff of 72, serving more than 360 students in pre-K through eighth grade. It is located in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.
