NWCCC awards

The Northwest Construction Consumer Council presented its annual Patrick K. Lyneis Memorial Construction Industry Safety Excellence Awards during the Advantage 2000 Construction Conference and Exposition last week in Seattle. The winner of the safety award for owners was Tosco Refining Co. for its Ferndale refinery, which includes a joint health and safety committee to foster a safe environment. Baugh Enterprises of Seattle and Haskell Corp. of Bellingham won contractor safety awards for their safety records. Baugh uses job hazard analysis to pre-plan all of its construction activities and manage the associated hazards. Haskell has a citation-free safety record for the past eight years.

Sabey Construction

Four new team members have joined Sabey Construction. Ray Barnes has been named project director, F. Duncan Eader is a project manager, John Warfield is an assistant superintendent and David Nelson is a project engineer. Barnes has over 20 years of experience working on medical facilities, corporate parks, hotels, highrise apartments and educational facilities. He is currently heading up a multi-million-dollar build-out for an Internet start-up company at Sabey Corp.'s Intergate campus in South Seattle. Eader has nearly 20 years of experience and is working on a Postal Service project in Renton. Warfield has over 20 years of experience and is working on a shopping mall expansion in Spokane. Nelson also has 20 years of experience and is working on the Spokane mall project.

Dexter+Chaney

Construction software developer Dexter+Chaney has moved to new offices in Lake City. The new office is at 9700 Lake City Way N.E., the former headquarters of the Weight Watchers franchise for most of the state. The new location gives Dexter+Chaney 40 percent more space than its old location.

Stirrett-Johnsen

Steve Stirrett has been promoted to general manager at mechanical contractor Stirrett-Johnsen. Stirrett holds an economics degree from Washington State University. He has worked for the company in many roles for over 17 years, the last three overseeing business development and marketing.
