Seattle general contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis has hired four employees for administrative and information technology positions. Jeff Busch has joined the company's Information Technology department, Amy Rowe is an operations assistant for the Special Projects Division, Cheri Chelsea is an administrative assistant and Sally Hamshaw is a general office assistant. Busch is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He also served in the Peace Corps in Panama and taught software courses for Adams Career Solutions. Rowe studied at Washington College in Maryland and the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Chelsea attended Highline Community College, where she learned administration and computers. Hamshaw has retail management experience and once owned a clothing store.
Builders Exchange of Washington has won the "Business of the Month" award from the Better Business Bureau. The Everett-based company provides construction drawings for projects located in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. It was one of the first plan centers in the country to place plans on-line.
Three consultants have joined FMI Corp. Steven A. Davis has joined the company's Tampa, Fla., office, where he is working with clients to improve their productivity. Jim Short and John Laird have joined the company's Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Short specializes in construction materials companies and will work out of the company's Denver office. Laird will work out of the firm's Raleigh, N.C., office. He will be working on FMI's valuation practice, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

GLY Construction has added three new staff and promoted Mark Maples from general foreman to superintendent. Maples joined GLY in 1984 and has worked on projects at the University of Washington, Roosevelt Medical Center, World Vision and Adobe Systems. The new hires include Tim Gottberg, Stacy-Michelle Ried and Amy Marshall. Gottberg is the company's new safety director. In that role, he is leading the development and implementation of GLY's comprehensive safety program. Ried is a new project engineer. She is providing technical assistance on Quadrant's East Campus office park in Federal Way. She holds a bachelor's degree in construction from Arizona State University. Marshall is a project engineer, providing support on a variety of projects for high-tech clients. She holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.
Commercial roofing distributor Coastal Atlantic Associates has added Keith Johnson to its Portland sales office as a metal roofing specialist. Johnson will serve the company's Oregon/Southwest Washington territory with Butler Roof Division products for commercial and industrial jobs. He also will oversee distribution of the firm's recently added Fabral lines. Coastal is headquarted in Edmonds and has an affiliate company called Saturn Associates.
Dennis Jackson has joined the Olympia office of Kristen Betty & Assoc., a construction management services firm. Jackson, a professional engineer, spent 30 years with the state Department of Transportation, where he held top management positions in design, construction, materials and maintenance. He has expertise in the design and construction of roadways and bridges, and is also a skilled negotiator and facilitator. Kristen Betty's main office is in Bellevue.
Bellingham-based Dawson Construction has hired Jim Quick as an assistant project estimator/manager. His first project with Dawson is a $1.2 million housing complex renovation in Ketchikan, Alaska. Quick was previously with IMCO Construction. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Colorado State University.
