Compass Construction hired Veronica Lopez as Certified Payroll Specialist; and promoted Sebastian Perez Martin from assistant superintendent to field superintendent, Tim Leahy from field superintendent to superintendent, and Jeff Stewart from labor foreman to assistant superintendent. Lopez has nearly a decade of experience in accounting, payroll and accounts payable. Perez Martin is working at the Liza project in Seattle. He began his career at Compass in 2013 as a laborer and climbed the ranks to labor foreman and later assistant superintendent. Leahy is working on the Marina Square project in Bremerton. He has been with the company for six years, starting as a carpenter and moving to labor foreman, assistant superintendent and field superintendent. Stewart is working on the Simon Northgate project. He started with Compass in 2020, and has 10 years of construction industry experience.

Pro-Vac

Puyallup-based Pro-Vac acquired Vac-One, a provider of hydro excavation services in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado and New Mexico. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. A news release from Pro-Vac says the combination “significantly enhances and expands Pro-Vac's scale and geographic reach.” Pro-Vac provides subsurface infrastructure services such as hydro excavation, stormwater and sewer systems maintenance, pipeline jetting, pipeline repair/grouting, CCTV pipe inspections and vacuum sweeping. The deal was supported by Los Angeles-based Gallant Capital Partners, a private equity firm and the majority owner of Pro-Vac. Vac-One is headquartered in Deer Park, Texas, and its customers include contractors and municipalities, as well as industrial, energy and utility companies.

A new chair, vice chair and two members have been elected to APA — The Engineered Wood Association’s board of trustees. Ashlee Cribb, vice president of wood products at PotlatchDeltic, is the new chair, succeeding Roy O. Martin III. Cribb’s areas of expertise include sales, marketing, strategic planning and operations management. Prior to PotlatchDeltic, Cribb was senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Roseburg Forest Products, and spent 21 years in the chemical industry. Doug Asano, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Roseburg Forest Products, is the vice chair. Asano leads Roseburg’s sales, marketing, logistics, customer service and fulfillment teams. He joined Roseburg in 2020 as the director of sales excellence, focused on process and systems improvements and sales training. Before joining Roseburg, he worked at Huber Engineered Woods for over 16 years in multiple commercial leadership roles, including vice president of sales and marketing. The new board members are Stephen Williams, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Western Forest Products, and Richie LeBlanc, president and CEO at Hunt Forest Products. Williams leads his company’s corporate finance, corporate development, investor relations, IT, shared services and legal teams. He has over 25 years of experience in the forest industry, and extensive experience in acquisitions and divestitures. LeBlanc has been serving the forest products industry for 22 years. He began his career with Willamette Industries in Ruston, Louisiana, which Weyerhaeuser later acquired. He initially served on the integration team, charged with merging the cultures of Willamette and Weyerhaeuser. Tacoma-based APA represents about 180 plywood, oriented strand board, glulam and cross-laminated timber, wood I-joist, Rim Board and structural composite lumber mills throughout North America.
