KPFF designs hospital in Taiwan to resist damage from quakes

Taichung Tzu Chi General Hospital in Taichung, Taiwan, is only 1,300 feet from an active earthquake fault.

The 1.8 million-square-foot Taichung Tzu Chi General Hospital is the largest medical facility in the world to incorporate a seismic protection system known as base isolation, according to KPFF Consulting Engineers.
