Design Perspectives By Clair Enlow |
May 15, 2013
The basic form of the Bullitt Center, which just opened at 15th Avenue and East Madison Street, is deceptively simple: a box under an oversized roof. But the angles are uncanny, and it's clear that walls and roof are all working very hard.
Even with its industrial strength and broad reach, the roof sits lightly over the building, letting bright spots of daylight through. There's still plenty of room on top for a muscular solar array, enough to power a mid-rise commercial building in Seattle, one of the most solar-poor places on earth.
