Seattle to study ship canal crossing

SEATTLE — If the city decides to build a new rail line between Ballard and downtown, it'll need to figure out how the line would cross the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

The Seattle Department of Transportation wants to hire an engineering consultant to study what's needed for the crossing. The study would take into account needs that have been identified in the existing pedestrian, bicycle and transit master plans.
