This 1907 Walla Walla barn was rehabbed using a state grant.

Send applications for grants to rehabilitate heritage barns by Oct. 21 to the Washington State Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation.

The program has helped preserve 65 designated heritage barns in the state. About $400,000 is available. Apply at http:/tiny.cc/72m71x/.

Heritage barns are structures built for agricultural production or housing animals. They must be at least 50 years old and have significant historic integrity.

Awards will be announced in early 2016.

For more information, contact Chris Moore at (206) 624-9449 or cmoore@preservewa.org.
