Exhibit at BAM on architect Louis Kahn
Bellevue Arts Museum will present an exhibit titled “Louis Kahn: The Power of Architecture” from Jan. 29 to May 1.
The American architect, who died in 1974, is regarded as one of the master builders of the 20th century. Among his most important works are the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California, Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, and the National Assembly Building in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The exhibition was organized by Vitra Design Museum and is the first major retrospective of Kahn's work in two decades. Kahn's architectural models, original drawings and photographs of his work are included, as well as footage shot by his son Nathanial Kahn, who directed a film about his father called “My Architect.”
