Teatro ZinZanni announced that it will lease space at the 22.8-acre former Redhook Brewery campus, at 14300 N.E. 145th St. in Woodinville.
The dinner theater/circus has been temporarily performing at Marymoor Park in Redmond, after its 10-year lease near Seattle Center ended last year. That site on Mercer Street was sold last year by Seattle Opera to Washington Holdings, and is now being developed as apartments by Barrientos + Ryan.
TZZ founder and artistic director Norm Langill said in a statement, “The Eastside embraced us during our recent stay, and we're thrilled to make an ongoing home there. As we expand, Woodinville will be the production home for everything ZinZanni, and be the launch pad for the expansion of our brand.”
TZZ said it has a 10-year lease, with two 10-year options, with the new owner of Redhook's campus. Local ownership group Sound Commercial Investment Holdings LLC acquired the property late last year for $24.5 million from Craft Brew Alliance of Portland.
Plans for other portions of the campus have not been announced. It has surface parking for about 270 vehicles, in an area that has lately seen an upsurge in wine and food tourism.
Brewery operations will apparently end on the Woodinville property. When Kidder Mathews sold it, the property was described as having “two state-of-the-art buildings totaling 129,203 square feet.”
Locally owned Redhook merged with Portland's Widmer Brothers Brewing in 2008, and later changed its name to Craft Brew Alliance.
The former Redhook buildings will likely see a change of use.
Langill said TZZ would consolidate all its operations in Woodinville. The company also stages performances in San Francisco, and may expand.
“The move opens the door to additional opportunities, including an on-site training studio for circus arts and a return of family and education programs,” TZZ said in its release. “Teatro ZinZanni will also continue the tradition of food and drink at what was the Redhook Pub,” aka the Forecaster Pub.
TZZ will set up its vintage spiegeltent in November for a holiday show. Chef Jason Wilson will create a new menu for the show.
TZZ's current show at Marymoor, “Love, Chaos, and Dinner,” will end on April 29.
