Bohlin Cywinski Jackson designed the Ballard Library, which is on the tour.

Seattle Architecture Foundation will offer a tour called “Ballard's Maritime Metamorphosis: Fishing Village to Urban Hub” from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 14.

Ballard has evolved from a gritty Scandinavian town of fishermen and mill workers to an urban village with upscale restaurants, music venues and new housing. The tour will look at what saved Ballard Avenue, a snapshot of small-town commercial architecture from the 1890s through the 1940s. It will also focus on how Ballard's master plan is playing out in modern civic and private development.

The tour begins at Bell Tower Monument at Ballard Avenue Northwest and 22nd Avenue Northwest.

Cost is $18, or $12 for members. Buy tickets at https://tinyurl.com/y5dk9daj/.
