Learn how the city will reconnect Pioneer Square to the waterfront

South Washington Street (pictured), as well as South Main Street, will be converted to curbless, single-lane, one-way streets with more generous pedestrian space. Paving across the alley recalls the former shoreline and the western ends of the streets serve as “green gateways” to the neighborhood, preserving views to the waterfront.

The Alliance for Pioneer Square and the city of Seattle from noon to 1 p.m. on April 27 will present an update on planned pedestrian improvements to some east/west streets in Pioneer Square — work designed to reconnect the historic neighborhood to the new Seattle waterfront.
