The stadium was designed by Seattle architect George W. Stoddard.

Memorial Stadium, at 401 Fifth Ave. N .in the northeast corner of the Seattle Center campus, could see $66 million dollars worth of upgrades if the Building, Technology, and Academic/Athletics Capital Levy is renewed by Seattle voters in the Feb. 8 special election. Although the stadium is on Seattle Center grounds, it is currently owned and operated by the Seattle School District and is most commonly used for graduation ceremonies and high school athletics for schools in the area.
