Bloch House eyed for landmarking

SEATTLE — At its meeting on Oct. 18, the Landmarks Preservation Board voted to nominate the Bloch House at 1439 E. Prospect St. for landmarking.

The Tudor revival-style mansion was built in 1908 for enterprising German immigrants William and Minna Bloch who arrived in Seattle at the turn of the 20th century and would go on to establish a successful cafe and flourishing real estate business, before falling on hard times amid rising anti-German sentiment during World War I.
