As bond yields fall, S&P 500 dividends could lure investors

  • Dozens of companies, including AT&T, Exxon Mobil and Ford, all offer dividend yields of more than 4%.

    NEW YORK — With bond yields plunging because of worries about the global economy, investors might turn their attention to companies in the S&P 500 paying some juicy dividends.

    The yield on the 10-year Treasury has been steadily falling all year and stood at 1.58% as of Wednesday. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 is offering a dividend yield of 2% overall, making the payout more lucrative than what the bond market has to offer.
