Consumer goods giant Unilever vows to slash its use of plastic

  • The company says it produces some 700,000 metric tons of plastic packaging annually.

    THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Consumer products giant Unilever, whose brands include Dove soaps and Lipton teas, said Monday it aims to halve its use of non-recycled plastics by 2025.

    The move, which appears crafted to resonate with younger, more environmentally aware consumers, will require a “fundamental rethink” in the company's packaging policies, said CEO Alan Jope.
