Ferries stuck on winter schedules

SEATTLE — Washington State Ferries says low ridership during the COVID-19 outbreak is forcing it to extend winter schedules for all routes until at least April 25.

WSF's spring season, which includes increased service on some routes, was originally scheduled to begin this Sunday. The agency says system wide ridership was down about 40% over the past week.

There are also concerns that COVID-19 could reduce available crew members needed to meet federal requirements.
