SEATTLE — Starting Wednesday, foot-passengers will be able to commute from Des Moines to Seattle via boat.
The new ferry service is a pilot project by Puget Sound Express for the city of Des Moines. The vessel, called the Chilkat Express, is a hydrofoil powered by twin waterjets and will transport passengers from Des Moines Marina to Bell Harbor Marina in Seattle in 40 minutes. The two-month pilot project will operate from Aug. 10 to Oct. 9. Fares range from $5 to $10.
