City invests $22 million in two affordable housing projects

SEATTLE — The city of Seattle recently announced $22 million in new investments by the Office of Housing to support the production of 267 new rent- and income-restricted homes across two projects in the Northgate and South Park neighborhoods. This funding was awarded to project developers Sea Mar and GMD Development.

Sea Mar received funding for its South Park Family Housing project which is set to rise at 8800 14th Ave. S., on land owned by Sea Mar and currently home to a pharmacy building. That building will be replaced with a seven-story development that will bring 77 homes to the South Park neighborhood with a focus on serving low-income families and individuals. The ground floor of the building will serve as a clinic operated by Sea Mar Community Health to address the clinical needs of those in the South Park neighborhood as well as the residents residing in the building. Bazan Architects did preliminary design work for the project.
