Local eateries make NYT's top 50

NEW YORK — The New York Times recently published its Restaurant List for 2022 , with the 50 U.S. restaurants the publication loved the most in 2022. Two Washington state eateries made the list: Matia on Orcas Island and Columbia City's Off Alley.

Matia opened in May 2021. The Times described the space as “both expansive and intimate,” with a dining room that “feels like a country house, with a beckoning fire going in the corner.” It praised Matia's menu of unique dishes that include a pork chop with spring radish, bok choy, salsa macha and smoked date puree.
