Methanol plant OK'd for Kalama

KALAMA, Cowlitz County —The Port of Kalama commission voted to approve a lease agreement with Northwest Innovation Works to build a manufacturing plant on port property.

The plant would produce methanol from natural gas for export to Asia, where it will be used to produce olefin, a common ingredient in the manufacturing of products such as cellphone covers.
