SEATTLE — Sound Transit's Board of Directors has picked the final route for light rail from Seattle to Lynnwood.
Trains will run along Interstate 5 between Northgate and the Lynnwood Transit Center.
Stations will be at Northeast 145th Street, Northeast 185th Street and the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center at 236th Street Southwest.
The board told staff to plan for future stations at Northeast 130th Street in Seattle and 220th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace.
A trip from Lynnwood to downtown Seattle will take 28 minutes, Sound Transit said in a press release.
Sound Transit estimates the 8.5-mile route will cost between $1.5 billion and $1.7 billion.
Construction is set to begin in 2018, and the rail line is expected open in 2023.
