Last week crews from GLY Construction topped out a seven-story life sciences building at 500 Fairview Ave. N.
This is the second phase of BioMed Realty Trust's research complex in South Lake and is expected to open by the end of the year.
ZGF Architects designed the 122,000-square-foot building.
BioMed has signed two tenants: Novo Nordisk and NanoString Technologies. Novo Nordisk is leasing about 23,000 square feet, and NanoString is taking 19,500 square feet. The building is about 35 percent leased.
NanoString and Novo Nordisk are tenants in the first phase of the research complex at 530 Fairview Ave. N. That 127,000-square-foot building was completed in 2008. Leases in the new building will allow both companies to expand.
BioMed Realty's website says the new building will have a gym and a conference room for about 100 people.
BioMed Realty is based in San Diego and has more than 18 million square feet worldwide. BioMed Realty owns six properties in Seattle and Bothell.
