A 51-year-old carpenter died Tuesday at a jobsite in Bellevue.
Bayley Construction is the general contractor at the project at 316 116th Ave. N.E.
Bayley President Steve Grasso told the DJC that they don't know what happened, but his company is cooperating with investigations by the Bellevue Police Department and the state Department of Labor & Industries.
“Our condolences go out to the family,” Grasso said.
Grasso said the worker was newly hired and was only on the job for two hours.
The Seattle Times reported the man was found face down in a puddle at the bottom of a 12-foot hole near 116th Avenue Northeast and Northeast Fourth Street.
Police spokesman Seth Tyler said that police believe the man may have died from a medical condition, but investigators have not ruled anything out.
A KOMO report noted co-workers told medics that the man seemed in normal health earlier in the day.
Bayley is turning an old Dodge dealership site into a retail development. Crews are doing site work, including building footings.
Fuller Sears Architects is the designer.
