Washington State University is one step closer to its Everett campus after university and Snohomish County officials held a ceremonial ground breaking for the new branch.
Last week Interim WSU President Dan Bernardo led the event for the $64.6 million building that is expected to have a 100-seat lecture hall, 12 classrooms, nine laboratories, about 45 offices, a coffee kiosk, study spaces and an area for public gatherings called Innovation Forum.
When it opens for the 2017 school year, the 95,700-square-foot building will house WSU North Puget Sound at Everett and Everett University Center. Both now operate on the campus of Everett Community College.
The four-story structure was designed by SRG Partnership and is being built on a parking lot at North Broadway and Tower Street, east of the Everett Community College campus. It will be post-tensioned concrete with concrete columns and a facade made of brick and metal panels.
Hoffman Construction is the general contractor.
Other design team members are McKinstry, KPFF Consulting Engineers, Site Workshop and dark|light design.
OAC Services is the project manager.
