MV Transportation is holding a ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday for a bus maintenance and storage base at 18795 N.E. 73rd St. in Redmond. MV provides transportation for Microsoft employees.
The pre-engineered metal building will have an 11,570-square-foot ground floor with six maintenance bays and a 2,800-square-foot mezzanine for offices. Another 2,400 square feet of office space will be on the ground floor.
The entry will be accented with masonry.
A wash station will be connected to the building, and a fuel station with a 10,000-gallon diesel tank and a 2,000-gallon propane tank will be built nearby.
Plans call for storing 266 buses on the 4.66-acre site, which is currently vacant.
Sea Con LLC, the general contractor, expects to finish construction by late spring. Jackson|Main Architecture is the designer and Pacland is the civil engineer.
Tuesday's ceremony begins at 2 p.m.
Dallas-based MV Transportation says it is the largest provider of paratransit services and the largest privately owned passenger transportation contracting firm in the U.S. It has more than 18,000 workers in 146 locations around the world.
