State has $5.5M for psychiatric projects

OLYMPIA — The state Department of Commerce is awarding $5.54 million in grants to six health care providers to develop additional facilities for short-term inpatient psychiatric detention services.

The three largest grant recipients are: Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, $2 million; Walla Walla General Hospital, $2 million; and Jefferson County Public Hospital District No. 2 in Port Townsend, $1.51 million. Those hospitals will repurpose existing space.
