The Commons at Ballard is a mixed-use complex with office space, housing and retail at 5601 22nd Ave. N.W.
The Commons has two buildings one five-story and one six-story. It was designed to connect residential, office and retail uses while incorporating long-term sustainability measures.
Units have custom closets and pantries. The two-bedroom units have gas fireplaces, and most units have balconies. Bathrooms have tiled showers and illuminated mirrors. All units have air conditioning. Rent ranges from $1,018 to $4,395.
The complex has a skylounge, with a large kitchen and bar, banquette-style seating, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace. There are two rooftop decks and a pet area, and a media area for private events. Residents can also access secured, illuminated bike storage rooms on each residential level.
The Commons was designed to meet LEED platinum standards, with the aim of creating a prototype for green design and connectivity between retail, office and residential uses.
The project won a Multi Family Executive award for best green project of the year, and was named best mixed-use development of the year by the Washington state chapter of NAIOP.
