Lancer & Lace

Photos by Vicaso [enlarge]

Lancer & Lace salon, located in the Insignia Towers at 588 Bell St. in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, was named after the Secret Service handles for John F. Kennedy and Jackie Onassis.

The tenant improvement project started with an empty shell and limited square footage. The owners called on a design-build firm to build out the space, including styling and shampoo stations, private esthetician rooms, and restrooms connected through a central core to help guide people through the space.

Concrete and steel stairs were added to lead up to a new 400-square-foot mezzanine, which created room for office space, laundry and a breakroom. The total square footage is now 2,300 square feet.

The design uses a minimalist palette of concrete, walnut and steel, creating a clean canvas for original art pieces, including a portrait of the salon's namesakes by local artist Cheyenne Randall.

Client: Lancer & Lace salon

Design-build contractor: Collaborative Companies

Interiors: Collaborative Companies, Laura Marvel
