SEATTLE — Users of the Burke-Gilman Trail in Fremont will be detoured for eight months beginning Monday to allow crews from Stellar J Corp. to build a water main in the area.
Bicyclists and pedestrians will be routed onto Northwest 36th Street and Second Avenue Northwest from the trail.
The reroute will allow Stellar J to start its $5.77 million contract to build the 24-inch water main in a utility tunnel under the Ship Canal between Fremont and Queen Anne.
The new feeder will replace a leaky main that was nearly a century old and taken out of service in 2011.
