Gonzaga University in Spokane has opened the Volkar Center for Athletic Achievement.
The three-story, 52,000-square-foot multi-function building was designed to help student athletes succeed in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
A regulation size basketball practice court, strength and conditioning space, and film room are on the main floor, along with the Gonzaga Athletics Hall of Fame.
The horseshoe-shaped second floor provides a view of the main floor basketball court. The remainder of the second floor includes sports administration offices, a large banquet space, and skywalk connection to the adjacent McCarthey Athletic Center.
The third floor has the student athlete support services center a large open space that can be used for studying or meetings. A south-facing patio offers views of the Spokane River and downtown Spokane.
