Pedestrian bridge over Western, Columbia to be installed this week

  • Ferry commuters will use the temporary structure until early 2023, when the new permanent Marion Street pedestrian bridge opens.

    Crews this week will place metal bridge components over these columns on Columbia Street.

    A new path for ferry commuters will take shape this week as Kiewit Infrastructure West installs a temporary pedestrian bridge that connects to the existing Marion Street pedestrian bridge at Western Avenue and travels south to Columbia Street and then west to Colman Dock.
