There goes the (single-family) neighborhood? New Oregon infill law lets in multiplex housing

  • In two years, triplexes, fourplexes and townhomes can be built in areas where single-family homes were only allowed.

    The list of organizations that favor Oregon's recently passed land-use bill is almost as long as the list of groups that strongly oppose it.

    House Bill 2001 pitted land-use and housing groups such as 1,000 Friends of Oregon and Oregon Smart Growth against neighborhood groups and smaller cities who saw the potential for disruptive infill development in neighborhoods that have been zoned single-family residential.
